I have received so many letters and requests to get more parking for Kingston Hospital Patients to address what can be a high stress experience adding to already high levels of anxiety for patients coming for operations, appointments and emergency care.
So Ive written to Kingston Hospital Management Team and Patient Experience Team.
Dear Patient Experience Team
Patient Parking shortages at Kingston Hospital has been coming up a lot in my email box.
I know that many patients stress about finding a parking space and being late for their appointment.
One person suggested to me that an electronic gate that doesnt let additional cars in once it is full might solve some of the circling which currently exacerbates the jams in the parking and stress on hovering.
There are other tech solutions around that monitor the number of parking spaces available too.
Perhaps we could also look at a park and ride scheme from a larger car parking facility.
Another thought is to link parking to appointments:
Would it be possible to pre-book a parking space for an appointment for example ?
Or perhaps create bookable only mobility spaces for disabled or non mobile patients?
Theres a link to a national campaign too which many residents have pointed too.
Would you be able to share Kingston Hospital’s views on parking provision and any plans there are to review?
Many thanks
